St Peter's Organ
The Organ was built by "Father" Henry Willis in 1888, the same year as Willis' other masterpiece in Truro Cathedral which had an almost identical specification. It was originally installed in the Hampstead Conservatoire and subsequently installed at St Peter's in 1910 at a total cost of less than £1000! Hill, Norman and Beard carried out a restoration in 1956, when two stops were added to the pedal, a new tubular pneumatic action was installed and the pitch altered to concert pitch. However, great care was taken to preserve the original Willis tonal characteristics then and in a subsequent cleaning and overhaul in 1983 when electric action was applied to the pedals.
